The Perfect Law of Liberty
James 1:25 (AMP)
25 But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience).
The law refers to the Word of God. In the Old Testament the first five (5) books of Moses were called the Law – the Pentateuch. It was the Word of His Law now we have the Word of His grace.
When you heard the gospel (good news) faith came to you and you gave your heart (life) to Jesus Christ. The gospel you heard is the WORD (the perfect law) which liberates you from any challenge you might have in life, whether it’s in your finances, marriage, relationship or in your career, this gospel will make you free and will be free INDEED (John 8:32,36) if you get to know it and walk in it. Jesus will perfect your life – Psalm 138:8;
Joshua as a young man of God taking over the reigns from Moses in (Joshua 1:8) was instructed by God to not let the book of the law depart from his mouth – this meant he had to be talking it; but you cannot talk it if you don’t have it.
If and when you face challenges and you start talking what you see (or the mountains) the book of the law has departed from your mouth & you suddenly become exposed. Like Abraham who against hope believed in hope you have to refuse to be distracted even by people whom you know or even your closest loved ones because the devil uses the one closest to you to bring you down. Remember we wrestle not against flesh & blood but against principalities, powers… Ephesians 6:12-17.
The children of Israel in the wilderness were being bitten by serpents and God had a solution for them; which was for them to look at the brazen serpent that God instructed Moses to raise-up on a pole. Those who looked lived, those who did not died – Numbers 21:5-9. This is a clear instruction for us to hear and do the word.
The same word that God gave to the Israelites is the same we have now because God does not change but the only difference is that now we have a better covenant with better promises – instead of obeying we just have to do the Word but you cannot do it without having it in your spirit. John 3:14.
If financially you were creeping on all fours like a baby, the more you look (gaze) at the word of God the more you stand until you come to adulthood. That’s why the bible in (1 Peter 2:2) admonishes the babies in Christ to desire the sincere milk of the word so they can grow up to a point they can be able to eat hard meat because hard meat belongs to them who are of full and matured age. If you don’t look – like those who died in the wilderness you will fail to live a fruitful life here on earth. The death that occurs to you is not necessarily of your flesh but anything you try do won’t work because you will be functioning in death. Know that your natural life depends on your spiritual life.
Sometimes we face hard & tough challenges in life that may cause us to look & concentrate on them instead of looking at the Word. My advice to you according to (Hebrews 12:2) is: refuse to be distracted and keep looking at Jesus: the author and finisher (perfecter) of your faith.
2 Corinthians 3:18 – The more you look the more you are changed just like the Word of God you will be looking at. This is a process called metamorphosis were you get transformed from form to form, from state to state; for example: as the economy is going down and people around are getting affected you will be changing in state as you gaze into the word of God were you will not feel the heat when it comes (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
God bless you.
