I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing – John 15:5KJV

Jesus speaking to His disciples made them to understand that; He was the vine and they were the branches while God the Father is the Gardener. This message is to us believers too. If fruits are to be borne by the church; the body of Christ, it will happen through the branches. The Gardener and the vine don’t bear fruits. It is the branches that do.

The same life that is in the vine also flows to the branches – the fruit bearing life. It is the good life, but you cannot have this kind of life unless you are connected to the vine. Jesus is the vine. He tells you; if you do not abide in Him you will do nothing in this life. You will fail – meaning failure is imminent.

In simple terms; this means you have to stay in the word of God because Jesus (the vine) is the word became flesh. He is not here on earth with us, He is in heaven, but He left us the Holy Spirit which brings us His presence – keeps us in fellowship with the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ.

If and when we live by the word of God, have it in abundance, and live it out, we will bear much more fruits and our fruits will remain. We are supposed to leave our inheritance to our children’s children – that is how our fruits will last. Stop living by the world’s principles and live by the Word of God!
